Jude 1:3 – “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”

We are exhorted to earnestly contend for the faith.  Now there is no way to contend for the faith without standing for this precious old Book.  For you see, in this blessed old Bible, we have “the Word of faith.” Rom. 10:8

We need to contend that the Bible is an indestructible Book.  While people from all walks of life and in every age have loved and cherished this Book, and for it, multitudes have suffered martyrdom, it is also a hated Book. “This is the condemnation that light came into the world and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.”

Men have always tried to get rid of the light.  They crucified the living Word of God.  They have tried in many ways to destroy the written Word of God. They burned Huss at the stake.  They hounded Wycliff and, after he died, they exhumed his body and burned it.

But the Word of God, they could not destroy.  He who died and rose again to give life to all who believe has sworn by His eternal Self that “though heaven and earth shall pass away” His Word shall never pass away.
