Rev 16:15 – “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.â€? Rev 1:7 – “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.â€?
His coming is twofold – for & with is set forth in type, symbol, parable, construction of Scripture, and by especially inspired words.
The twofold coming of the Lord is illustrated by parables. We see it in the parable of the Bridegroom and the Virgins. The Lord will come for those who are ready. Then He will come with His Bride to rule and reign.
The twofold coming is set forth in the construction of Scriptures. In the 25th Chapter of Matthew we see Him come as a bridegroom, comes as a King, comes to meet the virgins, comes to meet the nations, comes to a marriage chamber, comes to a judgment throne, comes to be married, comes to execute judgment, comes at night, And comes in the morning hour.
In two inspired Greek words. “Epiphanciaâ€? – - Manifestation (brightness), “Parousiaâ€? – - Presence (coming)
II Thess. 2:8 – “And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness (epiphancia) of his coming (parousia):â€?
Before manifestation, the presence is there, but un-manifested, unknown, secret. His coming in presence for His church will not be manifested. His coming with His church will be manifested to every eye.
There is more to come tomorrow.
