Rev 16:15 – “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.â€? Rev 1:7 – “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.â€?
His coming is twofold – for & with is set forth in type, symbol, parable, construction of Scripture, and by especially inspired words.
Symbols.
He will come as a thief in the night. We know how a thief comes. The Lord is coming as a thief – to take a great treasure – a pearl of great price. The pearl is the Church. He is coming to take the jewel out of the world. The world will awake and discover the Lord has come – - the church has gone. Only then will the world know the value of the church.
He is symbolized by lightning. (Ill. of lightning followed by the loud thunder) The light of His glory floods every heart. He will come as a thief for His church. He will come as lightning with His church.
He is symbolized by the morning star and the rising sun. – The bright and morning star. (Ill. of setting of morning star and the rising of the sun) Our Lord is coming for His church as the morning Star. He is coming with His church as the rising sun.
This gets more exciting each day.
